Today, we’re opening a new chapter at Hexa: we’re thrilled to announce that Matthieu Gombeaud is joining us as CEO.
For the past 14 years, we’ve built Hexa without a CEO. But as Hexa grows, so does our mission. We realized that to truly scale what we’ve built, and to become the go-to partner for entrepreneurs everywhere, it was time to evolve our structure. That’s where Matthieu comes in.
Supporting founders at every stage
When we started eFounders in 2011, we pioneered the studio model. We’d bring the idea, find the right co-founders, and build startups hand-in-hand until they were ready to become independent. Over the years, we’ve launched more than 50 companies (including Swan, Yousign, Front, Spendesk, and Aircall) mostly in B2B software.
We’re pushing the model further. Our mission is no longer just about starting companies. It’s about supporting entrepreneurs throughout their journey - from the very first spark of an idea to scaling into stars in their niches.
To make this real, we’re structuring our support around two complementary programs:
- Start — our historic program, with a renewed ambition: to launch a dozen startups each year in high-potential verticals like AI, healthcare, fintech, and energy transition.
- Scale — our newest program, designed for more mature startups (3–6 years old) that have already proven their model but need fresh momentum to accelerate. We’ve already supported two companies this year, following in the footsteps of Yousign, the first to benefit from this model.
This is only the beginning. We’ll soon be adding new initiatives, especially to better support early-stage entrepreneurs who don’t yet fit into either path.
And in the meantime, we’re on the lookout for Partners to join both Start and Scale to support entrepreneurs.
Introducing Matthieu
Matthieu brings both strategy expertise from BCG with hands-on experience scaling Aircall, one of Hexa’s biggest successes. There, he managed indirect sales channels and strategic partnerships, sitting on the Executive Committee during a critical growth phase.
Welcoming a CEO was a necessary move, and Matthieu is the ideal choice: he pairs the entrepreneurial spirit shaped at Aircall with strong management capabilities to drive Hexa’s next phase of growth.
Our goals for 2030
Matthieu will drive Hexa’s ambitious trajectory:
- By 2030, we want to support 30 to 40 startups per year.
- We’ll broaden our offering with new initiatives to help founders at different stages.
- We’ll open our model (until now reserved for historical shareholders) to new partners, families, and institutions, building on the €35 million we raised in 2024. Register interest here.
- We’ll accelerate our international expansion, with the United States as a priority.
Our ambition is to become a global entrepreneurship platform. The ideal partner for founders, no matter where they are on their journey.
A new chapter together
With Matthieu joining as CEO, Thibaud, Quentin, and Amaury can focus fully on what they love most: supporting entrepreneurs.
We’re proud of the 50+ companies we’ve already helped bring to life. But in truth, we’re just getting started. Here’s to the next 50. Here’s to building a platform that gives every entrepreneur the shot they deserve.
