Guillaume Lerouge
I’m a partner at Hexa Sprint, where I run the inaugural European Defense cohort.
I started my career 19 years ago, when I launched a consulting company to help organizations adopt wikis while still a student in London (the original blog post is still online). Since then, I’ve stayed close to emerging technologies, moving from collaboration tools to data and AI projects, and eventually into defense and dual-use technologies. This path gives me the ability to work at the intersection of civilian innovation and the realities of modern defense.
Before joining Hexa, I was one of the first employees at XWiki, an open-source collaboration software company, where I joined the executive team in charge of sales, marketing, and project delivery. I later became a partner at La Javaness, where I ran startup acceleration programs such as Thales Cyber@Station F and Facebook Startup Garage, before leading large-scale AI deployment projects. Most recently, I spent three years at the Thales Digital Factory, helping startups collaborate with Thales entities and deploy secure cloud technologies across the group.
I’m also an angel investor in defense and sovereignty startups, having supported companies such as Harmattan AI, Alta Ares, Landroval, altrove, and Beyond Aero. These startups are now gaining real traction with prime contractors and defense organizations. I joined Hexa to build on that momentum by partnering with ambitious founders who want to strengthen Europe’s security.
My goal is to help Europe reduce its dependence on strategic technologies it does not control. I’m looking for projects that serve Europe’s national interests, whether in defense, dual-use innovation, or the protection of our technological supply chains (such as critical materials, key components, and cybersecurity).
My focus is on strengthening Europe. I work with European founders, including those in Ukraine, who want to increase the resilience of EU countries and their allies. I’m particularly interested in early-stage teams who have a clear idea and strong intent, even if their company has not yet been incorporated.
The themes I’m most drawn to include:
- Networked sensors and the massification of ISR
- AI-powered electronic warfare
- Drone and counter-drone systems
- Space-based capabilities
- Urban and subterranean combat
- Underwater warfare
- Advanced materials
The ideal founding team combines deep operational expertise (from serving in the field or building innovative platforms), strong technical capabilities (I have a soft spot for DeepTech), and operational know-how.
