Spendesk
A first-mover in the space, we launched the first version of the product in 2016 with the mission to make company payments as simple as personal transactions.
The idea for Spendesk started brewing in our studio in spring 2015. We wanted to make company spending suck less - by letting startups issue cards, payment methods, and IBANs in just a few clicks.
That’s when we met Rodolphe Ardant, who quickly came onboard as co-founder. He was later joined by Jordane Giuly and Guilhem Bellion.
Spendesk’s first payment? January 2016 - a mediocre bottle of champagne from the Auchan webstore. But momentum followed fast. By January 2021, over €1 billion had been spent through Spendesk: cards, invoices, expenses, all in one platform.
In 2021 alone, they added 100 new team members and entered unicorn territory.
Spendesk operates across Paris, London, Berlin, San Francisco, and Hamburg, with growth accelerating year after year.
Today, backed by top investors - including Index Ventures, Eight Roads, and General Atlantic - Spendesk processes tens of billions in annual spend for over 200,000 users and continues to push innovation in finance workflows
Spendesk, or PayX as it was initially known back then, joins the HX16 batch.
Spendesk raises $2.2M with investors Kima Ventures and FundersClub.
Spendesk raises $38M Series B with Index Ventures.
Spendesk raises €100M Series C with General Atlantic.
Spendesk raises an additional €100M to its Series C led by Tiger Global and becomes eFounders' second unicorn.
