What can we learn from successful SaaS founders?

At eFounders Startup Studio — as you’ll probably have noticed — we are obsessed with SaaS.

Given that we build 3 to 4 SaaS startups from the ground up every year, it’s understandable. How do we do it? It’s simple, although not easy:

  • we test our ideas through a strict validation process
  • if there’s an opportunity, we partner up with outstanding entrepreneurs to launch the company.

Consequently, we meet hundreds of talented applicants all the time who want to join us as business founder or technical founder. And, this got us thinking about what exactly makes a successful SaaS entrepreneur.

The qualities we’re looking for in each candidate are specific, we need super stars who are:

  • Innate entrepreneurs: optimistic, enthusiastic, and visionary at the same time.
  • Passionate evangelists: transmit passion and vision to the team, investors & media.
  • Builders: transform an idea into a fast-growing company — beyond the launch, envisage running the business for the next 7 to 10 years with the ambition of building a billion-dollar company.
  • Product-driven: love the web and know that managing a SaaS company is all about building great, scalable and robust software that clients will be addicted to.

But, apart from these qualities, what other common characteristics are shared by successful SaaS entrepreneurs?

We decided to get to the bottom of the question with a new set of interviews — following on from the VCs investing in SaaS series — featuring today’s hottest SaaS founders.

Stay tuned, we will progressively publish our interview! Right here!
